Arcanists is my sci-fi/fantasy setting where humanity is split into genetically-modified and unmodified subspecies by a single rogue bioengineer. Because the altereds' enhancements are electromagnetic in nature, they renounce advanced technology due to the interference it generates, and they conquer Earth. The original human race escapes and starts anew on Martian soil, waiting for the opportunity to reclaim their homeworld. Stories about the altered seem like fantasy on the surface, reflecting their incomplete understanding of their situation.
